Teaching Experience

Teaching Assistant and Preceptor for the French, Comparative Literature, and African American Studies Departments of Princeton University

Assistant in Instruction for French 101 (Fall 2018) & French 103 (Spring 2020)

  • Designed and prepared daily lesson plans and materials for 50 minutes classes 5 times a week for 14-16 students.

  • Conducted and led daily lessons and activities targeting the weekly course goals designed by the head of course.

  • Created daily additional material that introduced the students to French and Francophone Culture and Literature through

    French 208 Intro to the Francophone World (Spring 2021)

  • Designed and prepared lesson plans and materials to transport the students through a journey of the Francophone world.

  • Conducted and led lessons and activities targeting the weekly Francophone region designed by the head of course.

  • Created additional material that introduced the students to French and Francophone Culture and Literature through daily idioms and daily relevant news.

  • Designed and presented the material on Morocco and Algeria by creating lesson plans and acting as a guest speaker to the speaker series for the class. Introduced the students to the work of Assia Djebar and Leila Slimani.

  • Designed and prepared plans and materials for weekly precepts targeting the weekly readings designated by the professor.

  • Facilitated original discussions on the class material to help the students further enhance their understanding of the weekly course readings including the novels and the theoretical supporting materials prepared by the Professor.

    Preceptor and Theory Practicum Leader for AAS 342 African Women Writers

  • Designed and prepared a semester long series of theory practicum to introduce the students to African literature that supported the syllabus designed by the Professor.

  • Conducted and led weekly discussions and activities of theoretical materials to enhance and enrich the students’ understanding of the weekly assigned novels.

Graduate Teaching Fellow representative of the French and Italian Department

  • Co-organized the McGraw Center’s teaching orientation program in both the Fall and Spring of every academic year since

    2018.

  • Designed a two-day program (pre-pandemic) and an online program (during and post-pandemic) to help new assistants in instructions in a wide range of fields, but more often in languages and the humanities, gain the confidence and prepare for their first day of teaching at Princeton University, as well as help them become aware of the Princeton rules and regulations as it relates to teaching.

  • Helped conduct the McGraw Center’s teaching orientation program in both the Fall and Spring every academic year since 2018.

  • Designed workshops and activities to introduce new assistants in instructions’ knowledge of inclusive learning and helped them design lesson plans and present their first lesson to an audience of other students.

  • Offered the students a toolkit of tools and strategies to grading, conflict resolution, advising, and more.

  • Observed graduate students teach precepts and classes and offered them feedback and ways to enhance and improve their teaching skills by providing support and detailed feedback before and after the teaching demos.

  • Offered the students a toolkit of tools of pedagogical tools to become more confident teachers and improve their teaching experience for themselves as well as their students.

  • Reviewed and prepared detailed feedback on syllabi and teaching statement for graduate students going on the job market.

    Virtual Writing Group Leader

  • Organized weekly virtual writing group activities for a group of 5 female graduate students

  • Prepared and presented to the students a toolkit of strategies to establish healthy and consistent dissertation writing habits

  • Facilitated and led weekly conversations around higher education, academic expectations, academic writing, and the difficulties and obstacles faced by women academics.

Leadership Experience

University Administrative Fellow with the Diversity and Inclusion Team at the Office of the Vice President for Campus Life at Princeton University

  • Shadowed Brighid Dwyer work alongside her on numerous projects that helped create Princeton University’s Diversity and Inclusion framework.

  • Assisted the dean and accompanied her on important meetings with university partners to advocate for the newly developed Diversity and Inclusion framework.

  • Organized information and developed a folder of information that helped me design and organized the Diversity and Inclusion framework website.


    Fellow with the Dean for Professional Development the Graduate School

  • Shadowed James Van Wyck and worked alongside him on numerous projects that helped create a Scholarly Communication workshop series in collaboration between the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School, the Princeton University Press, and other local partners. The cohort focused on academic publishing, digital and public humanities, data-driven projects in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and the role of libraries, non-profits, and other partners in the circulation of research and scholarship.

  • Helped the dean in developing a program for aspiring faculty members understand the mores and practices of scholarly communication, and it helped equip graduate students with a comprehensive view of the opportunities and challenges the industry is facing, and finally afforded the students new vistas for their own professional growth.

  • Assisted in the creation of an informal community of critical inquiry and an engaging, and supportive learning environment in which graduate students discussed broad questions about the future of knowledge dissemination, while learning valuable lessons and acquiring contacts that helped them navigate their own career journeys.
